Germany lost World War II and paid a high price as an aggressor. The country was brought down and divided into several occupation zones. In many aspects, Germans had to start everything from the very beginning, restore the society, and revive economics. When in the Western part of the country the Marshall Plan was in effect, only Soviet approaches were used on the territory of the Soviet occupation zone.

You can see some examples of East German postwar posters below. All the materials were taken from the web page http://neue-saechsische-galerie.de . Artists from the East Germany created a unique mixture of Soviet slogans and German traditions of propaganda, which paid much attention to details.

These posters are a part of a special line that is split by years and devoted to postwar revival. In the left picture, the Wehrmacht veteran with his family and the destroyed building and tanks in the background: ”Our motto is to overcome postwar chaos. Let’s create the democratic basics for a new order!” In the left picture:” Our demand is the fight against smuggling” - Highlights for Warspot: Berlin. Even more beautiful than ever! | Warspot.net
