In 1943, the British Ministry of Information, which was responsible for propaganda, commissioned cartoonist Kimon Marengo, a native of Egypt, a series of stories for propaganda in occupied Iran. The basis was the famous Persian poem by Firdousi «Shahnameh», also known as «The Book of Kings».
In the series of drawings created by the artist, Hitler took the form of the main negative hero of Shahnameh, the three-headed tyrant Zahhak, the heads of Mussolini and Tojo grew up behind the Führer of the Third Reich, successfully supplemented the image. Goebbels took on the appearance of the Zoroastrian demon Ariman. All the atrocities of Hitler-Zahhak end sadly: one day he had a dream in which three knights act against him on a campaign, in which Churchill, Stalin, and Roosevelt are easily guessed. The dream turns out to be prophetic. It is difficult to say what influence Marengo's work had on the Iranians, but today the leaders of the allied powers in dressing gowns and turbans look funny.
